Palliser Roommate Sofa Sleeper System

Company Coming? Add a Stylish Sofa Sleeper to Any Room!

Hello everyone – David Adelman here with Parc Modern Home located in beautiful Victoria British Columbia.

I’m here to talk to you today about a new roommate Palliser sofa sleeper system.

This sofa system is brand new for us but it’s amazing and here’s why.

First off we’ve got a beautifully designed clean style and it’s very easy to open so basically you just grab the back cushion and there’s a handle on the bottom seat cushion and just pull and grab the handle up top and fold over.

The reason why this bed is so good is number one it incorporates an Italian patented bed system with no rough edges and everything is totally finished.

There’s protective plastic on the sides so you don’t catch your clothes.

The mattress is a Serta gel memory foam mattress which is very comfortable.

The other thing is underneath the seat cushion is Pirelli webbing so when this folds over and becomes the suspension for the seat it’s very similar to an actual sofa which you normally don’t get into the sofa bed and typically they’re very heavy and they don’t sit very firm due to the fact that there are bars underneath and no suspension system.

This has a suspension system which is great as well and has no bars and is completely finished with a trampoline system which is totally amazing!

There is a zippered cover so if you do need to dry clean or wash the mattress cover you can at any time.

The most important thing about this bed is that it is integrated right into the frame so there’s very little wasted space so you can have a larger sleeping area as well typical sofa beds.

Why This Sofa Bed Will Fit Just About Any Small Space

A typical sofa bed starts about a foot to 16 inches out from the headboard, however, with this system you don’t have the wasted space so you have a longer mattress but the most important factor for us is when we’re selling sofa beds into second bedrooms or a smallest studio condos or apartments that are anywhere from 400 to 600 square feet this is your main sleeper which is wonderful because it’s a great comfortable bed.

There are no breaks as well in the foam like some typical sofa beds made in the US like American leather.

The main feature with this bed is number one it’s very easy to fold but when you fold it there is room right underneath the seat for pillows and sheets so you can store them right in the bed which is very important in small scale spaces.

The main thing is when you do close the bed into the sofa, it is very easy and you just fold it all in one motion and you’re done.

So the main thing with the Palliser sofa sleeper system is there is no fuss with cushions typically with any of the American leather sofa beds you’ve got a cushion to take off, and another cushion to take off, and another, etc. so what do you do with these cushions – so people end up piling them up in the corner.

To be honest most people don’t have the room to do that because the reason they’re buying a sofa bed in the first place is to maximize their space so this sofa bed we love because number one the durability the mechanism from Italy, the comfort factor and again the memory foam mattress from Serta.

The way you can integrate the pillows and storage into the bottom is the main features of this new Palliser roommate sofa bed and it does come in different arm treatments and different leg options as well so it’s customizable.

What Makes This Sofa Bed Different

The bed in the video above is a queen and it also comes in double and super double and super queen.

  • The most beneficial features are the integrated cushions so no fuss with cushions and you don’t end up piling them up five feet high in a room for storage.
  • Number two is the mattress is a gel foam mattress that is really comfortable and has no separations.
  • Number three is the Italian patented support system with no bars with in the suspension system so you’d get a very good sleep and no uncomfortable bars.
  • Number four is the Pirelli suspension webbing and when you fold it over under the seat cushions so when you’re sitting down it gives you the same feeling as a regular sofa which is very important!
  • The other thing is that depth of the sofa cushion is quite a bit deeper than a conventional sofa bed because of the way the system is designed.

In any event this is a wonderful bed and again compared to some of the more expensive options, like American leather, which is usually around 1,500 to 3,000 dollars more, this bed is made in Canada, it’s made in Winnipeg, my hometown, so it’s a wonderful product and delivery is about eight weeks and you can custom order this in a multitude of leathers and fabrics.

Stationary vs. Swivel Stool Furniture Review

Why is a Hydraulic Swivel Stool a Great Option for Your Kitchen

Hi, this is David Adelman with Parc Modern Home. Have you ever wondered what type of stool to buy? For instance, stationary versus swivel?

Basically, we feel that the swivel stool with the hydraulic is probably your best option, because with a hydraulic stool, you can adjust up or down for your individual torso. Because everyone’s torso is different, from a child to a tall adult, seating heights will be different.

Basically, with this stool, I can adjust it perfectly for me. Or if I’m taller, I can adjust it lower, if I have a taller torso. But if this was a counter stool, for instance, that didn’t have any adjustability, for me this is way too low, because I have a smaller torso. For a child, it would be devastating. They would not even be able to reach their food. With the hydraulic, we simply just lift, and we’re there.

The other nice thing is the swivel feature. When you’re talking to your host or your partner, you can talk to them, then you can also look out the window or to your guests adjacent, perhaps in the open concept seating area.

That’s why we recommend swivel stools, for the most part, at Parc Modern.

Stationary Stool Option

However, a stationary stool is still available. They’re still a good option, especially if you have concerns about children swiveling too much, playing, or perhaps falling off because they’re very young.

There are two options. Leathers to vinyls to cloth, so come see us at Parc Modern.

Buying Tips on How to Purchase Your Perfect Sofa

What Makes a Sofa Great?

Do you ever wonder what makes a really good sofa? Hi there. I’m David Adelman, owner of Parc Modern Home, located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, in Uptown, adjacent to Whole Foods.

Today I want to talk about sofas. I’m sitting on a Camerich sofa sectional with a lounge (see video above). This one is quite unique, and I’ll tell you why. First of all, this sofa is built on a metal and wood platform, solid wood and metal, with interlaced Pirelli webbing, no squeaking like you get with a traditional coil spring, very good support system based on a European model. As well, this entire frame is slip-covered, so you can take off the entire frame and pillows, and dry clean if necessary.

Why Cushions Are Important

The other nice thing and cool feature about a good quality sofa are that the cushions are removable and interchangeable. Basically what you can do with these is you can move them around. Oftentimes you’ll get a favorite seat, which might be here (on the lounge section). Or most likely on this set, this is the seat everyone fights for is the lounge. Everyone will lie on here. However, you can take these cushions and move them around so they all get equal use. That will keep your sofa lasting a lot longer than just not rotating them.

The other thing with a good sofa is the foam. This particular model is very unique because it’s got some down in it. Inside the cushion is a 2.4 density foam, so very high resilient foam. Then on top of that is a soft layer of down, so it gives you that really nice luxurious seat. In the back cushions as well, you have the same thing, and again, they’re loose back cushions. Basically, the same thing applies with the back cushions in that you can rotate them around as well.

Any good sofa will have a cotton or muslin cover, keeping everything inside the cushion intact. Some of the less expensive sofas will just have blown chip foam in them, and eventually, your cushion will just be flattening out, especially in the center. This keeps the cushion in place, and this is something you should look for in any high-quality sofa. As well, zippered cushions, and seats and backs, so you can take the cushions off to clean and if you need to replace them as well.

Leather vs. Fabric Sofas

This style is available in many fabrics or leathers. The thing to look for in any fabric sofa is the rub count. In the furniture industry, we go by double rubs. In other words, one, two, that’s a double rub. The majority of our sofas have anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 double rubs, which is basically commercial grade, or contract grade. When you’re talking about some fabrics imported that have 5,000, 10,000 double rubs, that’s something you should stay away from.

The other thing you should look for, especially if you have some pets, is a tighter weave. You don’t want a very open weave where a pet can claw at and open up the fabrication. As far as leathers go, I’ve talked about this previously, you want to get a leather that is compatible with your usage. If you have a small family or large family, a protected semi-aniline leather, protected leather. If you’re just the two of you and you want something a little purer, then you can go with more of an unprotected natural leather, which is a pure aniline leather.

That’s it basically for sofas. What you want to do essentially is make sure the guts are good, make sure the frame is good, and then make sure the fabric or leather application is also good.

Expert Tips on Buying a Leather Sofa

Leather vs. Fabric Sofas

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a leather sofa and a fabric sofa?

Today I want to explain a few details of purchasing a leather sofa and one the biggest questions we get asked is “Why should I spend more money on a leather sofa instead of a fabric sofa?”

The first thing I tell people is that no matter what you’re buying you want to make sure that you’re buying a good frame, especially with leather furniture because if you’re buying a leather sofa you’re buying it for longevity.

Fabric sofas will last an average of seven, depending on the quality, to perhaps twelve years depending on usage.

A leather sofa can last forever if treated properly so of course there are built-in properties to leather that make it a much better choice.

Consider the Construction and Cushions

Always look for a hardwood frame with a good spring construction or an interlaced webbing construction and the hardwood frame should be corner blocked, screwed and glued as well. Some sofas will have a drop in coil system as well.

On top of that is a quality cushion with a very high density foam with anything over a 2.2 or 2.4 density so it stands up over time because there’s no point putting leather over a crummy frame and crummy foam because you spent all this money and the leather might hold up but the framework won’t, so in the end you’ve wasted your money.

The other thing about leather is it may be a little more expensive than a fabric sofa so for instance the fabric sofa might be fifteen hundred dollars and a leather sofa might be twenty-five hundred dollars for similar scale and style, however a leather sofa over the fabric sofa will last about three times as long so you won’t have to clean it every few years which costs lots of money and it will stand up better.

If you amortize the cost of a leather sofa over 25 years and the cost of the fabric sofa over seven to 12 years you’re going to find your cost per year is much less for a leather sofa.

So the other thing is ease of use if you have a family, dogs, etc. you can entertain and you don’t have to worry about people spilling red wine or peanut butter and jam or pizza on your furniture. You can have a pizza party, watch a movie with popcorn and have no problems because you just wipe off the food.

Versus the fabric sofa, you have to be more concerned about entertaining in your room so you’re more apt to say “Don’t bring that in here, please … no red wine in here!”

So a leather sofa comes with ease of living and it makes it easier to live and enjoy the furniture.

The other thing about leather is you want to make sure you get the right type of leather and just because the leather is a higher grade it doesn’t mean it’s a better leather for you.

Most people may want a higher grade (thinking it’s better), however, what you get with the higher grades a lot of time is an aniline leather which means it’s unprotected so it will scratch and it will absorb grease from your head or palms and it will stain.

So what you want is a mid-grade leather which is a protected leather which will not stain it will repel stains and it will stand up very well to scratches.

I think you should keep in mind when you’re furniture shopping is to consider leather over fabric because it is a great investment over time and I think it’s something that people, and our customers, often overlooked until we explain it better to them.

Is Your Home Decor a Mixture of Styles?

As a retailer in the modern furniture industry for many years we have seen many designer styles come and go as home decor trends have changed from decade to decade and region to region.

Recently I read an interesting article by Margaret Heidenry titled “What Is Transitional Style: The Type of Decor Everyone Can Agree On” that talks about how home decor is moving to a mixing of furniture layouts and styles.

I have included a brief overview of this interesting concept.

“With so many decor styles out there, it can be hard to stick with just one. Modern, rustic, shabby chic, traditional—deciding on the vibe you want for your home can be downright confusing. But here’s the great thing about interior design: Many of these styles overlap, and can actually work really well together. The design world uses the term “transitional style” to describe the type of design that melds two different aesthetics—modern and traditional—into the same room. So how can you bring transitional style into your home? Our experts break it down for you.”

You can read the entire article at realtor.com by clicking here.

Let us know what you think about this idea of combining color, textures, accents and more into your home or condo.
